1. Why did you start CrossFit?
I first came to CrossFit with my mom so that I could stay in shape during my winter break for gymnastics. Later I decided that I wanted to come regularly because I liked the atmosphere and wanted to build up my strength.
2. What is your athletic background?
Along with being a CrossFit athlete, I am also currently a gymnast. I also dive in the summer for my pool.
3. What is your spirit animal?
I think my spirit animal would be a manatee because they are considered gentle giants. They are friendly, peaceful animals who mind their own business. They are herbivores like me!
4. What do you love to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to tie-dye t-shirts and sweatshirts. During snow days though, I like to complete puzzles by the fire with my mom.
5. Favorite treat?
I LOVE cotton candy ice cream with rainbow sprinkles in a waffle cone. I also like regular cotton candy and watermelon sour patch kids.
6. Favorite CF move?
I like Over Head Squats and Toes to Bar because I find them pretty easy and have good core strength.
7. Dreaded CF move?
I hate snatches because I do a weird hitch and I hear the same corrections over and over again, yet I can’t seem to fix it.
8. Best CF moment so far?
My best CrossFit moment was when I got my ring muscle up for the first time with Sam and Sho. I then did a couple more during the EMOM.
9. A goal for this year?
One goal for this year is to fix my Snatch hitch problem. It would also be pretty nice if I placed top 20 in the region for my age group during the Open.
10. Most embarrassing song that you love?
I love “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, but I don’t really find it THAT embarrassing.
What the coaches have to say:
Anna’s athletic background in gymnastics means she can quickly learn body weight movements. She is an extremely coach-able individual who gives an all-out effort every single time she sets foot in the gym. All of that, combined with her competitive attitude, makes her really fun to coach!
Anna is a great athlete to work with - motivated and teachable. She shows great maturity for her age and brings a certain focus and grit that keeps me inspired as both a coach and an athlete.
